Product - Level 4

To be able to achieve a level 4 in my product i must make sure i can:

• Create effective photos using the correct mise en scene and techniques and appropriate shot types.
• Use effective photo editing software to edit the photos to improve them
• Using appropriate language fro the target audience
• Effective integration of photos and fonts to become appealing
• Show a clear understanding of how to set out and design my pages and follow conventions
• Use ICT to effectively create my magazine
• Use a variety of texts and fonts to be able to appeal correctly to me and my audience.

What have the other magazines done well?

• They have used an effective colour scheme to appeal to the correct target audience
• They have used an organised design yet cluttered so it looks appealing
• The language was appropriate and appealing
• The font and texts were layed out differently and in different styles to become effective
• They followed conventions to make an effective design
• The photos were taken in a professional manner and in relevant shot types.

I think that they both deserved a level 4 because they managed to follow the correct conventions and therefore made an effective and appealing music magazine with effective colours and fonts to look appealing to the target audience of their wishes. The images were shot in the correct types and placed effectively to appeal to the target audience.

For improvements, I would make sure that the mise en scene related better to the magazine. Florals do not go with the genre they created and so they should change their costume to be able to relate better to those who read the magazine. The cover is a bit crowded and therfore can be too much for the reader to take in on a first glance and so they shuold make it more organised to appeal better and so the reader can take in as much of the main information and images as they can on a first glance. The text can seem a bit confusing too and so they should simplify it efectively to appeal better to the target audience.

I think that my magazine will be able to achieve a level 4 because i will use effective shot types to make sure they are appealing, including mid shots and long shots and close ups. I will also make sure my mise en scene is relevant to the images and also the genre to make is effective. My locations will be relevant because i will make sure they are scenic. The mode of address will be informal because of my target audeince but i will also make sure that the layout will be organised rather than clutter so my target audience can take in as much information as they can. My fonts will vary because i need to make it appealing and so i will have some fonts large small and medium in terms of dependency to read. I will also add different styles to make it more fun and interesting. My layout will follow conventions.

How to Improve My Research and Planning

To improve my research and planning i should make sure that i add images of the pages in the magazines i analysed to give a better understanding and show i can relate them to my work. I also need to make sure that i add images of the locations that i am going to take my photos and also add images of the models. I also need to carry out a focus group to get a better understanding of my target audience for my product. Improve the presentation of my blog. And also make sure that i add examples of my drafts as i make changes and then explain these changes.
